Im vorliegenden Artikel soll ein kurzer Überblick über die Heimatkunstbewegung, eine anti-moderne geistige und literarische Bewegung im deutschsprachigen Raum (um 1900), geboten werden. Ideen und Konzepte dieser
anti-modernen Bewegung werden vorgestellt sowie der Zusammenhang bzw. das Verhältnis der Heimatkunstbewegung und der Kolonialliteratur (deutscher Provenienz)erörtert.Abschließend wird aufden Einfluss der Heimatkunsbewegung auf die Genese der Selbst- und Fremdbilder in der habsburgischen Monarchie verwiesen.
