Ponekad se minimum ili maksimum funkcije može lako izračunati pomoću nekoliko teorema koji su direktna posljedica teorema o odnosu aritmetičke i geometrijske sredine pozitivnih brojeva. U ovom radu mi ćemo formulisati pomenute teoreme, te ćemo kroz nekoliko primjera pokazati njihovu moguću primjenu.
