Rad obuhvata opće naznake vezane za Down sindrom, podrazumijevajući njegovu istoriju, terminologiju, nastanak, učestalost, opće zdravstveno stanje djece s Down sindromom, njihov razvoj (tjelesni, mentalni, socijalno-emotivni,
govorno-jezički, psihomotorni), te ranu ciljanu intevrenciju. Rad se bavi i nekim segmentima učenja i poučavanja djece s Down sindromom, odnosno djece s posebnim potrebama.
