The paper identifies certain problem areas related to some
of the most common error commitments in translating technical
texts. The aim of the author is to raise translators’ awareness in this
respect and thus help them reduce such errors as much as possible.
On the backdrop of the identified problem areas, translators are paid
attention to the fact that the same type of error may be negligible in
one register and completely unacceptable in another. In technical
translation, small incorrectness, or ambiguity, may lead to a vast
material (financial) damage with legal implications. The refiore, it is
important to detect and highlight the weakest spots of this type of
translation and thus help predict and minimise such errors.
