U ovom radu se razmatra koje lingvističke jedinice mogu biti označene kao izrazi negativnog polariteta. Ukazuje se načinjenicu da se određene lingvističke jedinicečesto javljaju u negativnim kontekstima, ali da to nije dovoljan argument da ih se svrsta u kategoriju izraza negativnog polariteta, jer problem predstavljaju one leksičke jedinice koje se mogu javiti i u nekim pozitivnim kontekstima.
